I think we have a lot of fun getting up to speed on this. So much of what this guy is saying, however, isn’t exactly clear. If your application has a high resolution display, then it would be a huge waste of space. There will be a big number of problems with the system that can easily outgrow your background in a few hundred years. And with the current low resolution, it can also become more of a problem when you scale your program to thousands more times.
What a stupid article. Why is it so hard for me to understand the value of a random background image and see why something like 1024x1200 is bad? It’s a funny comment by someone who has never heard of a background image ( is a funny one, as has been said elsewhere).

A better solution would be to stop using background to display arbitrary background image and have it do some kind of filtering.
